The Lake Lauderdale

Lake Lauderdale — Swimming, Fishing & Paddling in Cambridge, NYLake Lauderdale is one of Washington County's best-kept secrets — a calm, glacial lake tucked into the hills of Cambridge, NY, with forested shores, clear water, and the kind of unhurried pace that's hard to find anymore. Our campground is just a 4-minute drive away, which means you're not choosing between a nice campsite and lake access. You get both.

Swimming Lauderdale Park, on the eastern shore of the lake, has a sandy beach open seasonally — perfect for families with young kids who want a safe, shallow entry point. The lake's calm waters make it a favorite for swimmers of all ages. No ocean waves, no rip currents, no crowds. Just a clean, quiet lake on a summer afternoon.

Fishing Lake Lauderdale is well-regarded locally for fishing, and for good reason. The lake supports warm-water species and draws anglers who appreciate having a spot that isn't packed on weekends. Whether you're fishing from the shore, a kayak, or a small boat, you'll find the lake is the kind of place where you can actually settle in and focus. Kayaking & Canoeing The lake's calm waters make it ideal for paddling. There's a DEC boat launch on the northeastern end of the lake on East Shore Road, with a wheelchair-accessible hard-surface ramp and parking for up to 30 cars and trailers. The eastern shore is largely forested and undeveloped, which gives the whole lake a wilder, more natural feel than you'd expect this close to Saratoga.
